OSINT Software Engineer — Data Acquisition & Reverse Engineering
Your mission is to expand our intelligence coverage through engineering research, reverse engineering and new collection techniques.
Anon AI Labs, the company behind Serus. Location: San Francisco. Exceptional candidates elsewhere considered.
About us
Anon AI Labs builds Serus, a personal AI product for privacy, intelligence and protection. Our OSINT engine supports both our consumer product and business customers.
We want to keep expanding what that engine can discover. We’re hiring a skilled developer who enjoys finding new sources and figuring out how to obtain useful information from them.
The role
You will investigate how sources work, discover information that existing tools miss and build methods to collect it reliably. You will then implement those capabilities in our engine alongside the OSINT and backend teams.
This is a hands-on software engineering role. Much of the research involves understanding systems, experimenting with techniques and writing code.
What you’ll do
- Discover valuable new intelligence sources and identify gaps in our coverage.
- Reverse engineer web applications, browser network behavior, undocumented interfaces and data formats.
- Develop new approaches to data collection and extraction.
- Build prototypes to test whether a source or technique produces useful results.
- Evaluate coverage, accuracy, freshness, collection cost and reliability.
- Turn successful experiments into production integrations.
- Maintain collection methods as sources change.
- Collaborate with backend engineers on processing, normalization and delivery.
What we’re looking for
- Strong software development skills.
- Practical experience with reverse engineering, browser automation, network analysis or complex data extraction.
- Curiosity about how systems work and persistence when the obvious approach fails.
- The ability to move from an unfamiliar source to a working implementation.
- Good judgment about data quality and the usefulness of the information collected.
- Open-source tools, unusual technical projects and independently developed collection methods are especially interesting to us.
How to apply
Email founders@serus.ai, with the subject “OSINT Software Engineer.”
Send your CV or profile and something that demonstrates your ingenuity: a reverse-engineering project, collection tool, repository or technical write-up. Explain what was difficult and how you figured it out.
