How to remove yourself from BDO
Also known as BDO GCI, LLC
Only BDO's Global Corporate Intelligence arm (BDO GCI, LLC) is a data broker. You opt out through its Do Not Sell My Personal Information form on bdo.com, which needs a phone number, an email or a home address. BDO's accounting work isn't covered.
On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect BDO to be one of many.

BDO doesn't say how long removal takes. Under California law, a business has 45 days to act on a deletion request (15 business days for an opt-out of sale).

How to opt out of BDO
- 1
Open the GCI request form
Go to bdo.com/do-not-sell-my-personal-information. The page is titled "Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request Form (GCI Services)."
- 2
Give at least one identifier
The form requires one of: a phone number, an email address or a home address. BDO says extra identifiers help it find the right records, so add what you're comfortable sharing.
- 3
Submit the form
You can also file on someone else's behalf. BDO GCI's registry entry lists privacy@bdo-gci.com as its privacy contact if you'd rather write.
Watch out for
- The form covers GCI services only. BDO says BDO USA doesn't sell personal information it receives for clients or in its other services.
- Check which address you use as an identifier: the form matches records to what you give it.

Your rights
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
