How to remove yourself from Hunter.io
Hunter finds and sells professional email addresses. To remove yours, claim it at hunter.io/claim. Hunter says it then immediately deletes all data tied to that address, including the record of where it came from.
On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect Hunter.io to be one of many.

How to opt out of Hunter.io
- 1
Go to hunter.io/claim
The page is headed "Claim your email address".
- 2
Enter the address you want removed
Do this for each work and personal address you suspect Hunter holds.
- 3
Complete the claim
Hunter says that once the address is claimed it immediately processes deletion of everything associated with it, including its original source.
- 4
Write to privacy@hunter.io for anything else
That's the privacy contact in the policy, for questions the claim page doesn't cover.
Watch out for
- Hunter also generates addresses by pattern from names and company affiliations, so an address you never published can be in its database. Claim every variant of your work email.
- If a public page still shows your address, Hunter can collect it again. Its policy says it keeps profiles only while the information is on public sources or until you ask for removal, and drops profiles within 3 months once they leave source pages.

Does it come back?
Hunter keeps a profile as long as the details stay on public web pages, or until you ask for removal, and removes profiles within 3 months after they disappear from the source pages. A page that still publishes your address can bring it back.
Frequently asked
Do I need a Hunter account?
The claim page doesn't ask for one.
Does claiming delete the source of the email too?
Hunter says yes: it removes the reference to where the address came from.
Is Hunter the same as the people who emailed me?
No. Hunter's customers use its database to find addresses. Removing yours stops Hunter supplying it.
