How to remove yourself from M+R
Also known as M+R Strategic Services
M+R is a marketing agency for nonprofits, and its donor-matching service is what counts as a sale of data. Opt out on its My Personal Information page with an email address or phone number, or email Privacy@mrss.com. Its privacy policy says it needs your name and email to process disclosures to clients.
On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect M+R to be one of many.

How to opt out of M+R
- 1
Open the page
Go to M+R's My Personal Information page.
- 2
Submit the form
The form takes an email address, a phone number, or both. Because the privacy policy asks for your name and email to process opt-outs from disclosures to clients, give both an email and your name to be safe.
- 3
Handle tracking separately
The page keeps online tracking apart from the data opt-out. For cookies and pixels use the Consent Preferences link in the website footer, and the Do Not Sell My Personal Information link there.
- 4
Email if the form fails
Privacy@mrss.com is the contact listed in M+R's California registry entry.
Watch out for
- The opt-out page and the privacy policy ask for different identifiers: email and/or phone on one, name and email on the other.
- The form doesn't cover cookies. That's the footer link.
- The opt-out covers M+R's own use and disclosure. It doesn't reach the nonprofits and other clients that already hold your details.

Your rights
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.

Frequently asked
Why is a nonprofit marketing firm on a data broker list?
Its donor-matching service uses and discloses personal information, which several state laws treat as a sale, so it offers an opt-out.
Can I opt out by phone number?
The page says email and/or phone. The privacy policy says it also needs your name and email for client disclosures, so supply both.
Does this stop every charity from contacting me?
The page covers M+R's donor-matching service only. Organizations that hold your details themselves aren't covered.
